North One Television’s Isle of Man TT contract to continue

North One Television has been awarded a two-year contract for the Isle of Man TT and Classic TT Races television content.

The company has produced TV coverage of the TT since of its appointment ahead of the 2009 festival.

The worldwide TT audience has grown from 8.1m in 2010 to 24.4m viewers in 2013.

North One Television chief executive Neil Duncanson said:

‘During the next two year period we will look to further innovate in terms of our production as well as introducing new broadcasters and countries to the existing roster.’

Meanwhile, Treasury figures show an estimated 39,224 visitors came to the island for the TT in 2013, up 27 per cent on 2010.

For the TT and the Festival of Motorcycling there was a 33 per cent rise in visitor numbers from 2009 to 2013 – from 39,900 to 52,900 visitors.

Over the same period, economic benefit to the local economy is said to have risen from £17.1m to £24.9m.
