Not sure but is the post TT races not modern races ? and the Pre TT the Classic races , but a call to the Southern 100 Club will soon sort you out , and they are a very helpful friendly bunch down there I have always thought and found

Hi Malcolm,
Its more a case of what bikes can be run in the smaller classes,
Pukka race bikes, or can road based bikes be used, and if so what is the cut off dates year wise,

Thanks

After seeing the feature on the Suzuki XR69 lookalikes in this months Performance Bike magazine, the Classic TT is a Joke

On-topic bit: A guy I know raced a Yamaha FZ600 in the F2 class, so providing a road-based bike fits within the age and capacity limits I suppose it should be fine.

Slightly off-topic bit: To get the F1 class catering for things that actually existed should be very simple - any engine over 750cc has to be air-cooled.  Thoughts?

I was told that all machines had to be 'original as possible' when I asked if or not I could use inverted forks on my RC30.
What did I see at this years classic ?? Censored

Yes, it's a sad fact, that if you're going to run an original F1 Classic bike in the Classic TT, as I have done, you will be completely outpaced, (as I was!).
I don't recall seeing an RC30 with upside down forks, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was one.
I think the event is fantastic, and I can see why it's a success, but some of the "blind eyes" that have allowed totally illegal bikes leaves me a bit cold.
Yes, I reckon having all over 750s as air cooled is an excellent suggestion.
Anyway, nothing will change for this year, but I understand that there will be big changes next year.
I wonder what Mr Phillips has up his sleeve for then?

Geoff, The cut off date for the YZR500 that Bruce rode was 1992,  some said it was the same Harris bike that Cap rode which was a 1994, has Padgetts got two YZR 500s ?

Would those changes be to include 1000cc - 1100cc bikes? don't break up those EXUPs they may be worth a fortune

The regs say 750s cut off decmber 92, and up to 1300 cut off december 86 so anything that could have been done in those respective years should be legal. the TT fi class was originally based around road bike engines fitted into after market frames, is that not what the xr 69 is evan with a gsxr 1100 engine fitted, the first engine was made in 86 so it could have been done in the period more than legal  unlike a mid to late 90s gp two stroke bike.

Classic racing .Its a tough call , at some of the BHR meetings I have been doing there are modern day copies running in a classic race. But these are not just copies they are upto date modern day technology copies, they are so much bettter that the bikes they are supposed to a copy of. But then how much of a bike can you change for modern day engineered copy bits and it still remains classic ?

I know with the classic TT there were bikes using out of era engines and parts which is just against the grain .

But where and who draws the line in the sand ?
Old enough to know better, young enough to have given it a go ! Icon_cool

At least the YZR was as close to original as possible. The XR69 raced at the Classic TT only look like the outline shadow of the original XR69.

Sad  RE: Post Classic Regs
c iom tt is absolutely right. Come on, Paul, be honest and straight  --  shortest eligibility regs in history:

"Run what you brung" and let's have no more of this "Classic" nonsense.

You have destroyed an excellent event - the Manx Motorcycle Club Classic Manx.

I hope that you are proud of that  --  come to think, you probably are !!
