Hogg Rescue, the charity which provides volunteers and medical support to motorsport events around the island, has taken delivery of a new ambulance.

The vehicle brings the Hogg fleet up to three and comes courtesy of the Isle of Man Ambulance Service, which supplied it, and online gaming organisation Pokerstars which funded the £5,000 cost of it being kitted out ready for use, thanks to its Helping Hands programme.

Dr David Stevens, medical director of Motorsport Medical Services said they were delighted with the donations.

‘It will be a valuable asset to our existing services that we provide, now that we have extra unpaid volunteers to man the vehicle at events when required. We are looking forward to getting to grips with it and familiarising ourselves with what is different compared with our existing two vehicles,’ he said.

The Hogg Motorsport Association marks 25 years this year and held its 25th annual charity auction at the Palace Hotel on Friday.

Started by the Hogg family in memory of Phil Hogg who died during practices for the 1989 TT races, the charity auction has raised funds every year towards medical services supporting motorsport in the island.

The Hogg Association has 21 unpaid volunteers who provide cover at rallies, the TT and Classic TT races, Manx Grand Prix, Southern 100 and many others.
