Solid day for Honda Racing at Brands Hatch

The second round of the MCE British Superbike championship took place this weekend at Brands Hatch, Kent. The 1.944km Indy circuit proved good ground for both Honda Racing's Jason O'Halloran and Jenny Tinmouth, who made promising progress after a mixed start at the first round at Donington Park.

In the first race, which was extended to 33-laps after a long safety car outing, O'Halloran finished in a solid fifth position. In race two the Australian-rider crossed the finish line in tenth place onboard the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. O'Halloran is currently 11th in the overall standings with 22 points.

Meanwhile his teammate Tinmouth had a confidence-boosting outing finishing both BSB races. The only female competitor in the championship finished 23rd in race one and 30th in race two.

Both riders will be testing at Oulton Park this Friday for an official championship test, ahead of the third-round at the Cheshire circuit on 2-4 May.

Havier Beltran - team manager:

We're really happy with both Jason and Jenny's progress this weekend. For Jason scoring two top-ten finishes was an excellent result and for Jenny finishing both races has really boosted her confidence. We have a few small things to work on and have a test next week at Oulton Park, so come the next round there we should be in good shape.

Jason O'Halloran - P5, P10:

The second race wasn't quite as good as race one, but I finished fifth and tenth today, which was a huge improvement from Donington. We made a small change for race two and I struggled in the first half to turn the CBR, so we lost some positions and everyone was running at the same pace so it was hard to get back through. But we'll take a lot of positives from this weekend and we're a lot closer to the front than we were at the first round. The fifth in race one was really good and gives us confidence going into Oulton Park, which is a circuit I really enjoy. We have a test there next week too, so we should be in good place come the next round.

Jenny Tinmouth - P23, P30:

I've had a really good weekend at Brands Hatch and am chuffed to bits with two race finishes! I was pretty consistent in both races and am just over the moon with both results. I've learnt a lot all weekend about braking points and markers, and a few other things, so have been working on those over the weekend. I'm really happy with my progress and looking forward to the next round at Oulton Park.
