Applications for this year's TT closed on May 1st but for future reference you need a letter of accreditation from a recognised media outlet (generally speaking personal websites or freely distributed papers aren't acceptable), signed by the editor or sports editor.  You will also need to provide evidence that you have public liability insurance covering at least £2 million (MSV tracks and Donington require £5 million).

To apply you need to go to the 'media' section on iomtt.com where you will find an online form to fill in.

If you don't currently do any media work then your best bet is to speak to the sports editor of your local paper to see if they will support your accreditation but they will not be interested if there are no riders from the paper's catchment area in the event.  Also, photos alone will be of no use to them - they will want an accompanying report, so bear in mind that both the quality of your photography and your writing will need to be good enough for publication.  Do not expect to get paid - to paraphrase an old adage, the best way to make a small fortune out of motorsport photography is to start out with a large one!

If the paper already has someone covering the sport then please respect their existing arrangement (I cover Gloucestershire, so hands off! Icon_wink).  If you get as far as being accredited, it would also be good karma if you covered other events throughout the season to help you build a working relationship with the paper and the riders.

If you can fulfil all of the above then it might be worth contacting Simon Crellin, the press officer, in case he can consider late applications.  His e-mail address can be found on the application page on tt.com.

Thanks Sticky

That information is great, I am already published in my local paper (Oldham) so I should think obtaining a letter would be fine, I have the Insurance already, so maybe next year I will apply.

No problem Sid - try getting in touch with Simon about this year.  He's a decent bloke and the worst he can say is 'no'!

I know the feeling, you can't go wrong with a list!

And the bike needs an MOT in the next 2 weeks, didn't realise it only had a month left when I bought it!

RE: TT build up
The NW200 is always a massive build up for me Smile Seeing the riders, the bikes the body language, the determination, everything about these guys getting ready for the TT.

Love seeing Bruce in such a mood Smile

Really, really looking forward to this year. I say that every year, but for some reason 2015 is shaping up to be an epic year at the TT Smile

The racers who can win are more numerous than ever I can remember, the riding is harder, the bikes are better prepared and the hype stronger. Smile

Well Eddy, in view of my website and previous antics, what do you think would be the most appropriate bike?
And the engine looks more like a tractor than the harley!

With a reputation like yours ( and what a reputation that is , say no more ) it could be any thing ! John Dear , Massey Ferguson , Fordson Major come to mind , not to mention Nuffield , International , and then of course there is the good old reliable four legged horse a little fast for you but very reliable , but then following along in the agricultural theme there would be the German offering the BMW's tractor division GS's or R division as it is known R for rural , then there is the Russian where the R has been dropped and replaced with Urinal ( don't even go there ) and then we have the good old Italian tractor specialists Moto Guzzi ( what can I say not to be taken out in the wet (when you live in Heyshame and holiday in the IOM ??) mmm) and then we have to think of the Royals from Enfield ( well India now but doesn't have the same ring to it ) and last but not least we have the Buy British Rocket 3 ( now that has a certain ring to it Rocket Pyromaniac ???
