Cookstown 100: Rain forces postponement of four races

Four non-championship races due to take place following practice at the KDM Hire Cookstown 100 were carried over to Saturday’s main race programme.

All practice sessions were successfully completed at the Orritor circuit on Friday, although rain in the late afternoon led Clerk of the Course Francis Everard to postpone the scheduled races, which will now be held as part of the main race bill.

The Cookstown club’s Kenny Loughrin said:

“With the good weather in the past week or so, the track became very greasy when the rain fell and the decision was taken to carry the races over until Saturday.

“All of the practice sessions were successfully run and although it might be damp early in the morning, the forecast is for a dry day so we’re confident of running the full schedule.

“There were only a few minor incidents and of all the practice sessions held I think we only had one red flag all day.”

The decision meant two Supersport races will be run on Saturday in addition to both Superbike events, with roads being closed at 10am sharp.

The organisers aim to start the first race before 10.30am.
