The 1st road race of the season got underway at Cookstown on Saturday and William carried on from where he left off at the short circuit meetings from the Easter weekend.

With the day starting wet and cold, the clouds had blown over by the 1st Supersport race got underway. William riding the CD racing team Yamaha R6 started from pole position after a great qualifying session on Friday and led from the off, with nobody looking as if they were going to catch him throughout the race. William looked smooth and comfortable with his great riding style throughout and took his 1st trophy of the day against a very strong field of competitors.

William took the 2nd Supersport race with much the same race to the delight of the cheering crowd.

Williams Superbike races were again very hard fought, with William, this time riding the Tyco BMW. William took a 5th place in what again was a very tough field, with his own team mate this time taking the top step of the podium.

The second big bike race William was having his own hard fought battle with Mar-Train rider Dean Harrison, overtaking each other a few times through the race, but William eventually being edged from a podium finish by Dean, with William finishing a very reputable 4th place.

Certainly a great start to what promises to be a very exciting season for the Ballymoney man.
