TT bosses allay fears over 'misleading' headline

TT bosses have struck out at a "misleading headline" which has set alarm bells ringing with fans.

They say the dates of next year's festival have not changed.

It follows an article in the Motorcycle News last week which claimed the schedule could be altered to allow the races to be broadcast live.

Bosses say any fundamental changes would require significant consultation before they were introduced.

No change planned for next year’s Senior TT race

Could fundamental changes to the traditional TT races schedule see the Senior race taking place on a Saturday in the future?

That’s the question raised by an article in Motorcycle News which quotes the government’s motorsport development manager Paul Phillips.

It said Mr Phillips questioned the viability of running the flagship race on what is a working day for people outside the Isle of Man – particularly when there are plans for live streaming of the event.

He acknowledged that any fundamental change would, however, need much discussion with parties such as teams and riders, not to mention new promoters Vision 9.

Posters on TT forums raised a number of further issues such as availability of marshals on the final Saturday of the fortnight and whether a postponed race could then run on the final Sunday.

A TT spokesman said the TT 2017 Senior is scheduled to run on Friday, June 9, and currently no change was planned.

Mr Phillips has been approached for comment.

And to think I thought the weather was the worst the TT had to fear.
