The Hogg Motorsport Association has taken delivery of a new ambulance to cover Isle of Man motorsport events.

The Peugeot ambulance replaces one of the three ’Hogg Motorsport’ ambulances, which are more than 10 years old.

The Manx Lottery Trust, as a delegated partner of the Big Lottery Fund, gave a grant of £30,000 towards the total cost of £76,299.

Dr David Stevens, director of the Rob Vine Fund charity that the Hogg Motorsport Association is a part of, said:

’We are extremely pleased with the new vehicle.

’The build quality and attention to detail are superb.

’A big thank you to the Manx Lottery Trust and the others who kindly contributed to the cost.’

In addition to providing rescue cover for motorsport competitors and spectators around the island, the ambulances have also been used to help the ambulance service in times of crisis.

The rescue vehicles are staffed by volunteer crews from the Hogg Motorsport Association. Over the next three years the Rob Vine Fund is aiming to replace all of the older ambulances.

Stuart Greaves from the Rob Vine Fund has said that the new ambulance is ’vital in ensuring that we can supply the best medical care to motorsport competitors and supporters when they need it most’.

Members of the Hogg crew are pictured at a helicopter loading demonstration for TT Course marshals at Noble’s Hospital helipads. Also pictured is Sarah Kelly, a trustee of the Manx Lottery Trust.

The Fund was established in memory of Rob Vine, a competitor who died after a crash at the Black Dub during the 1985 Senior TT, to provide medical/rescue equipment and training for all doctors, paramedics and marshals involved in two-, three- and four-wheeled motorsport events in the Isle of Man.
