Southern 100 Racing are pleased to announce that their Official Communications Partner Manx Telecom are to improve the WIFI coverage in the Paddock Area for the benefit of Competitors, Spectators and Officials attending the three road race meetings held on the adjacent Colas Billown Course annually.

Manx Telecom has been the race organisers partner since 2013 providing telecommunications and IT facilities at the Club’s Headquarters at the end of the By-Pass in Castletown.

Prior to that MT were the title sponsor for the Post TT Road Races in 2011 and 2012.

Under its earlier guise of BT, they first sponsored races at the Southern 100 in 1984 & 1985. Manx Telecom replaced BT from 1986 to 1994.

Race Secretary, George Peach said:

‘As race organisers it is imperative that we have a first-class communications service, not only for officials and marshals, but also for spectators and enthusiasts who attend our race meetings and Manx Telecom have provided the required service at the Southern 100 Course HQ since 2013.

‘Providing almost instant information is very important to those watching the races these days and with this in mind Southern 100 Racing and Manx Telecom have been in discussions for a while now on how the ‘visitor experience’ can be further enhanced in addition to providing competitors with the information they are looking for on their mobile devices and phones.

‘The club are delighted that Manx Telecom have greed to upgrade the WIFI facilities in the Paddock area and we are grateful for their continued support and would like to thank Marg McGee and Gavin Smith for their assistance in progressing this additional sponsorship.’

Marg McGee, Marketing Executive at Manx Telecom, said:

“As an independent Manx company we’re extremely proud to support an organisation which is at the heart of the community, and a vital part of the Island’s rich heritage in motorsport. It takes a lot of hard work each year to run the fantastic racing events which the Southern 100 team organise, and we are very proud to be providing our excellent WiFi service which will benefit everyone directly involved with this year’s events and enhance the experience for spectators.”
