Machines still manage to get the laps in

It was a problematic first night of practice for the organisers of Southern 100 on Monday.

A radio communications issue led to a 45-minute delay to proceedings, then rain arrived which meant speeds were well down.

However, all sessions went ahead in the wet conditions and roads opened on time.

Santon rider Michael Evans was quickest in the Superbikes at 98.385mph.

Reigning solo champion Dean Harrison set the pace in the 600cc class at 93.943mph.

Jamie Coward tops the Supertwins at 92.841mph and Pete Founds with passenger Jevan Walmsley are the quickest sidecar crew at 89.132mph.

There is a further practice session this evening with roads again closing at 6pm.
