SKERRIES 100 2022 PRESS RELEASE

Finally, the country seems to be getting back to normal since the covid pandemic hit us in 2020, the Loughshinny MCSC are delighted to be back running the Country Crest Skerries 100, on Saturday/Sunday 2/3 July 2022, over the iconic 2.9-mile seaside course, just outside the beautiful town of Skerries.

There has been a lot of water under the bridge since our last meeting in 2019, and there have been changes to some classes and machinery, and the way the event will be run, all this information will be released closer to the event, but we intend to run all classes. Thankfully most of our long-time sponsors have stayed loyal to the club, and we really appreciate this, considering the way the economy, and business have had to deal with the various restrictions imposed on them.

We are also indebted to our course residents, who have been behind us all the way.

We have also had many obstacles put in our way during our down time, but the confidence within the membership is amazing, and we are really looking forward to the sight and sounds of racing bikes hurtling through the roads around Skerries.

Once more we are proud that local company Country Crest will be the title sponsor of the meeting, as they continue their long association with the club, and Michael Hoey MD of Country crest said

“We are delighted to once more be the title sponsor of this legendary, and long running road race, and it seems an eternity since we heard the sound of racing bikes around the course. Like the Loughshinny Club, Country Crest is a local business employing over 300 staff, and we love nothing more than supporting a hard-working club like Loughshinny, and helping the community get back to one of the most important parts of life, and that is sport. We hope that the weather is kind to us, and that the race starved crowds will enjoy two great days qualifying and racing”

Thomas Garry Loughshinny Club Chairman,

“It seems like an eternity since Derek Sheils crossed the line to take the Country Crest Grand Final in 2019, but we had the belief that we would get road racing back to its home in Skerries, albeit a little later than we thought. We are delighted to have the sponsorship once again from Country Crest, who have supported us for many years now, and a massive thank you to Michael and Gabriel Hoey for their continued sponsorship. During the break we still went ahead with the 75th celebration in 2021, and we marked this with the unveiling of a plaque in the Floraville Gardens in the town, along with the original organisers of the event, the Dublin & District Club. To say we are nervous and excited to be back running, is an understatement, and we can’t wait until the start of July to get going again, and we look forward to seeing old and new fans watching the trilling sport of road racing”

More details will be announced shortly, and these can be found on our Facebook page, or at www.loughshinnymotorcycleclub.com
