Good effort. smiliesmiliesmilie Is this all part of the new improved lightweight model?

I have a couple of mates who do marathon and extreme long distance running. Don’t know how they do it? I could get there physically but I would die of boredom long before the end. Bonk

I'll finish it one day!

Out of respect for Cargo's excellent effort, I will refrain from mentioning the time Gail recently recorded for the same distance!! smilie

NO David tell me......... tell us....................

I love to know Gails time for 10K she has beaten me on the bike often enough............................

I think it's worth knowing that 3 months ago I couldn't have run 10 meters never mind 10,000

BTW Sandy did it as well in 58.05 and I'm very proud of her she has allways wanted to run and did start training sometime ago but stopped through pressure of work, time and her studies.

What it doesn't show is the taxi he just got out of ...............

Sorry mate couldn't resist well done ... how much was the fare by the way?
When people say one thing and mean another its called politics, when organisers say one thing and mean another its called a mistake, when the ACU say one thing and mean another its called information.

Gail did 40.37 for 10k on the track a couple of weeks ago, beating yours truly by a cool 1 minute and 47 seconds (she lapped me on her last lap!) Mind you, I got my revenge last night with a victory over her in the annual track mile...Yahoo

That would have put Gail 8th female in last nights race.
I'm very much in awe of anyone that can run at that sort of pace for so long.

A lot of the top half marthon guys came "sprinting" past me as I was in the last 2k. I couldn't believe the speed of them.you'd think I'd be used to that smilie

There is a link to results and reports of the TT Week track race below. You have to look almost to the bottom of the list of results to find my name though! There was another bike racer of a few years ago in the race - James Broughton. I'm not sure if he ever raced on the roads, but his brother Greg acheved several podium finishes in the MGP in the early 1990s.

Well done to you and Sandy.
Take no notice of the ribbing Stephen, its a great effort!
I know there is extra ribbing over your age, but, joking aside, its even more worthy.
Question?
Has anyone run races around the TT course?
That would be a real challenge.
I had a taste when I tried to walk round the Mountain Circuit 2 years running.
I did it to raise money for the TT Supporters Club.
I gave up at Ramsey the first year and got as far the Mountain Box the second time.
My two colleagues made it round.
I admire anyone who can run and walk distances, especially later on on life.

Keep at it Cargo!

RE: The loneliness of the long distance runner
Also would've been 6th in half marathon & top 90 overall.
10k would've been 2nd v40 !
Hey CARGO, Here's a challenge which could be fair to you & Sandy ( as she would have fairer
chance of beating me lol) If you're ere Wednesday before MGP practise week you could race me over 10k, now I will have done a half marathon on Sunday so I'll still have that in my legs and won't be fresh legged or fast, how about it?

RE: The loneliness of the long distance runner
Sadly it's wind down in athletics after the grand prix running week, there is races all week up to Friday evening, night before MGP practise starts. So you available Thurs/Fri ?
Or are you chicken Yahoosmilie

UNLESS you like fell running there's one on 24th but you'll be busy getting ready for your final practise smilie

THEN again if you plan to stay for week after on the Friday there's
a race just over four miles at St Johns.
Have a look round see if there's any near you, I could pop over!

The quiz picture I put on a few days ago - When, why, where? - was when they took the Senior TT trophy for a stroll round the Mountain Course.
Were you there Mike?
