STEVE PLATER RETURNS TO DOMESTIC ACTION

Plater will contest the second round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport championship for HM Plant Honda and will be challenging for the race win to boost his points tally.

In the opening round at Brands Hatch Plater recorded a fine second place but is keen to make it onto the top step of the podium at Oulton Park and come away from the Cheshire venue with maximum points and the series lead under his belt.

“Oulton Park is a fast and flowing circuit and one of my favourite tracks so I am relishing the thought of riding the HM Plant Honda Supersport bike to a strong finish,” said Plater.

Apart from a brief appearance at the July meeting last year, it is as long ago as 1999 that Plater last rode in the British Supersport championship at Oulton Park.

But having switched from the Superbike championship to Supersport in the latter half of 2008 Plater has gone from strength to strength. He won two races, Snetterton and Cadwell, and finished the rest of the season on the podium and is hopeful of the continuation of this form with HM Plant Honda in the current campaign.

Free practice takes place on Saturday, May 2 followed by two 30-minute qualifying periods on Sunday. Racing is set for Monday with the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport race scheduled to run over 16 laps of the 2.692- mile course at 2.40pm.
