Exclusive area designated for bike parking during race week. Isle of Man Tourism has created a ‘motorbikes only’ parking area on the Loch promenade in Douglas during Race Week. The ‘Bike Zone’ will be open every day during race week, from Saturday 5th June to Friday 11th June, from 10am to 11.30pm.

The first Saturday has been earmarked exclusively for Suzuki owners to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Suzuki racing worldwide and the 25th anniversary of the iconic GSX-R sportsbike. Suzuki GB will be running promotions and handing out goody bags as part of their celebrations. From Sunday onwards the Bike Zone will be open to all on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

The area will run on the seaward side of the promenade, on the promenade walkway, and will stretch from opposite ‘Jaks Pub’ to the Loch Promenade church. It stretches for 150 metres and will allow for two lanes of bikes to be parked, with an anticipated capacity of around 300 bikes. The area will be monitored by stewards but bike owners are advised to secure their bikes as they would when parking on the street.

Geoff Corkish, MBE, MHK, the political member for Isle of Man Tourism, commented:

“We want to create a real bike spectacle on the promenade to complement the entertainment that we are putting on and we felt that the bike park would give riders the chance to show off their machines and allow TT fans to enjoy the area.”

He continued: “The Suzuki dedicated day on Saturday 5th June will also be a fitting tribute to 50 years of the marque’s racing and 25 years of the iconic GSX-R. I’d encourage as many Suzuki owners as possible to take part in the celebrations.”
