Harris’s home stretch

Harris always knew that his debut in the world’s leading domestic road racing series would be tough. 2005 has not only been a development year for the Honda-Racing.co.uk team, but Harris has also had to learn to adapt to the brand new Honda Racing-developed CBR1000RR Fireblade. Despite the odds being stacked against him, the determined Yorkshireman has been competitive from the outset and even posed a threat to some of the championship’s leading riders.

As well as securing two podium finishes aboard the Dunlop/BLD-backed machine at Cheshire’s Oulton Park earlier in the year, Harris has also achieved 11 top ten finishes and five top five positions. Having scored two top six placings at the season opener at the Indy track at Brands Hatch, the Sheffield-based star is looking forward to returning to the venue to contest the challenging Grand Prix circuit and ending his 2005 Superbike campaign on a high note.

Current sixth-placed Harris has a healthy advantage of 21 points over closest rival Dean Thomas and at 36 points behind Glen Richards, he is still able to push for a place inside the top five. Now that the Honda-Racing.co.uk rider is on the home stretch, he is determined to fulfil or even exceed his initial objectives.

Karl Harris: “I’m really looking forward to going back to Brands Hatch. It is one of my favourite circuits on the Superbike calendar and I especially like the Grand Prix track. The Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade has been fantastic in its first year and has given me some great results. Needless to say though, I’m looking to score my best result of the series this weekend and really go out in style.”
