Quattro Plant Kawasaki has declared its pre-season testing programme a success as they prepare to launch their assault on the 2016 British Superbike Championship.

The Bournemouth based team, speer headed by hot young prospect Luke Mossey, Filip Backlund and Supersport contender Andy Reid, spent seven days in Spain in March with a three-day test at Almeria race circuit, before moving on to the Cartagena for a four-day test alongside rival BSB teams.

This was followed up with sessions at last weeks BSB official test days at Silverstone and Donington Park as the countdown to the 2016 BSB season approaches.

Despite Swedish Superbike star Filip Backlund fracturing his collarbone at Donington Park and expected to sit out the start of the season, the team has performed extremely well in the off season and will be aiming to get off to a flying start at Silverstone this weekend.

Pete Extance, Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Team Principal, said:

“We have had a really positive pre-season testing programme and we can’t wait for the season to start. We have put a lot of hard work in over the winter months to get the new 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R Superbikes ready and both Luke and Filip have clocked up some impressive lap times at each test session.

“2016 is going to be hectic with a three solo rider team, as well as the Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki sidecar team, but it’s a season that we are really looking forward too.

“Luke proved in the second half of last season that he has the potential to be a BSB front runner and we hope we can get the season off to a flying start and secure some early podium places and that coveted first BSB Superbike win.

“Filip has been a great signing and really settled in well with the team. His performances in testing were excellent especially at Silverstone, where he recorded third fastest in two of the three sessions. Filip is undergoing surgery today April 4th and has not ruled out riding at Silverstone this weekend but we know whatever the outcome he will be back and raring to go very soon.

“This is our first attempt at Supersport and we have built a ZX-6R for Andy that will hopefully put him at the sharp end from the opening round. We have high hopes for Andy and we want him battling at the front and ultimately pushing for the Supersport crown.”
