Hybrid or electric TT when?
Yamaha has revealed a hybrid motorcycle at the Tokyo Show which uses
the high output lightweight compact YZF-R6 600cc motor and an electric
motor to deliver the type of performance normally associated with a much
larger capacity engine.
Derbi are also playing with electric racing motorcycles.
Imagine a motorcycle with no pistons, no valves, no camshafts,
no counterbalancers, indeed, no reciprocating parts, not even a gearbox?
How significant would it be for such new concepts to be showcased on the
Island where so many new motorcycle technologies have been introduced
and developed?
Perhaps it would counter the growing feeling that the TT is becoming
an anachronism.
