Honda TT Legends ready to face the Suzuka 8-hour

The Honda TT Legends team had its final free practice session this afternoon in preparation for what promises to be its most challenging race of the year – the Suzuka 8-hour. It was the last chance for road racers John McGuinness, Keith Amor and Cameron Donald to get to grips with the legendary circuit before taking part in the gruelling event tomorrow afternoon.

Following careful consideration from the team, it has been decided that all three riders will compete in the race, with John McGuinness taking part in the running start. With a nine-stop strategy in place, the aim is for McGuinness to do four stints, Donald to do three and Amor to do two.

Tomorrow’s weather forecast promises a continuation of the current hot and humid conditions with the possibility of rain in the afternoon, meaning the riders may have to contend with a wet track as well as the extreme heat. There is no doubt that the race will be tough, but the Honda TT Legends are ready to give it their best go.

John McGuinness

I’m feeling a lot more comfortable with the bike and the track than I was two days ago. It’s been a difficult few days with the heat and learning a new circuit, not to mention riding round with some incredibly fast Japanese specialist on their home track. We’ve done what we can, we’ve got warm up tomorrow and then the race so there’s no turning back. We just want to enjoy it has a team, get the most out of the experience as we can and go home with a few points.

Cameron Donald

We’ve been in Japan for four days now and we’re starting to get a nbit more used to the climate and the hot weather. We’re getting a lot more familiar with the circuit itself. Every time we got out we’re getting a little bit faster and more comfortable with the track. I’m looking forward to the race tomorrow, I’m happy that we qualified where we wanted to be and I’m just excited about getting out there and starting this race. Bring on Sunday!

Keith Amor

I’m looking forward to the race – it should be good. Hopefully the weather will stay dry. It rained during free practice today so I only got a couple of laps in. The boys have done a great job on the bike and everything is looking positive. I can’t wait to get out there.
