Brookes unhurt after Island Classic crash
[Image: philipislandlogo.jpg]

Josh Brookes was back on track at Phillip Island this weekend, racing in the annual Island Classic event as teams from Australia, the UK and the World 13 go head to head in the International Challenge. However the event ended early for the Tyco Suzuki rider who missed out on a potential podium finish in the opening race with a crash.

The first race saw Brookes battle with three-time Australian Superbike champion Shawn Giles and world endurance champion Steve Martin, but the race ended prematurely for the BSB title contender when a mechanical failure caused him to crash at turn one. Brookes was unhurt in the crash but the damage to the Suzuki XR69 left him sidelined.

Giles took the win as the race was red flagged ahead of Martin whilst the UK's Jeremy McWilliams finished fourth, but took a podium finish in the second race of the weekend.
