Progress at Jerez hindered by weather

After an action-packed opening day of the MotoGP™ Test at the Spanish track on Friday it was a very different story on Saturday, where only a few tentative laps were ridden by just a handful of riders by 2pm local time due to poor weather conditions.

Saturday presented a stark contrast to the previous day at Jerez as unfavourable weather conditions limited productivity for the first half of the second day at the Official MotoGP™ Test.

Grey clouded skies, wind and eventually spots of rain put paid to any meaningful information being able to be gathered from the first half of the day, with only five riders having ventured out of Pit Lane by 2pm local time – one of them Ducati's Test rider Franco Battaini.

The Italian and CRT rider Iván Silva (Avintia Racing) were the only two to register anything more than an out lap by 1pm local time, as both Ben Spies (Yamaha Factory Racing) and Yonny Hernández (Avintia Racing) quickly returned to the pits having emerged to test conditions.

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa did take his factory RC213V out at around 1.40pm, the main novelty of the Spaniard's exit being the opportunity to see the new red tail-light which will be mandatory in wet conditions for the 2012 MotoGP™ season. By 2pm Pedrosa had completed nine laps and was the only rider out on track.
