Michael Laverty became the seventh different race winner from eight races in the second MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship race at Snetterton as Samsung Honda celebrated their second victory of the season.

Laverty took the lead on the opening lap from the pole position ahead of Shane 'Shakey' Byrne and Josh Brookes as Tommy Hill also moved up the order into Montreal as the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider went wide. Padgetts Honda's Luca Scassa was up to fourth but he crashed out at Williams to end his race prematurely.

Laverty held the lead ahead of Hill and Brookes with Noriyuki Haga moving up to fourth at Murrays a few laps later ahead of Byrne and then the Japanese ace then moved ahead of Brookes at Riches only to crash out at Murrays on the same lap. Hill meanwhile had his own drama as he encountered a technical problem that saw him slow and then later retire the Swan Yamaha.

Laverty held the lead from Byrne and Brookes after edging out an advantage but the pair were in close contention for second but the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki maintained the position with Brookes claiming third and with it the lead in the overall standings.

Laverty said:

"It was lucky number seven for me and that is the kick start we needed for our championship! I had some issues that we had to rectify and the Samsung Honda team have worked hard to rectify it and this weekend has been fantastic. I am over the moon and that really is what we needed this weekend."

Ian Lowry had a close battle with the WFR Hondas to finish fourth ahead of Graeme Gowland and Alex Lowes after the trio had swapped positions several times throughout the race. Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki's Chris Walker was able to pass Stuart Easton at Murrays to move seventh with James Westmoreland and Patric Muff rounding out the top ten.
