All Roads lead to Oliver’s Mount for Barry Sheene Race Festival

Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough is the venue - The Barry Sheene Race Festival is the event not to be missed this Sunday 24th June 2012 with a mixture of modern and classic machines and their riders challenging for the mass of silverware available from the organising Auto 66 Club.

In addition to the ten race programme there are no less than five special interest Parades, headed by Barry Sheene Tribute which will be led away by two of Barry’s close friends and racing rivals Steve Parrish and Mick Grant.

The opening parade of the programme will be members of the Yorkshire Coast British Motorcycle Club riding pre-1973 machines and the Benelli Owners Club, followed at intervals during the afternoon with various racing machines from various eras.

Lightweight TT and five time winner from the Mid Antrim 150 Road Races, Ryan Farquhar tops the entry list, bring two KMR Kawasaki machines, the 1000cc ZX10R and the 650cc twin, plus the 1000 Suzuki and the 500 Paton.

For the first time Sidecars are included in the race programme, both modern and classic, with Ian and Carl Bell leading the modern machines, with Nick Cutmore, Andy Bailey, Howard Langham, Nick Houghton and Ian Salter battling for honours in the classic Category.

Trophies up for grabs include the Barry Sheene Superbike; Geoff Barry Superbike; Denis Parkinson 500; Syd Barnett 350 & the 250 Red Rose Trophies.

The action gets underway on Sunday with practice and qualifying at 9.00am with the first of the Parades at 11.15am. Racing commences at 12.30pm.

Admission is £15.00 with accompanied children under 16 free of charge.
