Race one pole-sitter Shane 'Shakey' Byrne topped this morning's warm up session in the sunshine at Brands Hatch as the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider stormed ahead of Alex Lowes and Tommy Hill in the closing stages.

Byrne is determined to return to the top step of the podium today after missing out at Oulton Park last time out and the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider made his intentions clear as he headed the times as the countdown begins to the opening race of the day. Lowes had put the WFR Honda fastest for a brief spell with five minutes of the session remaining as the young Lincolnshire rider bids to improve on his best result of a fifth place.

Defending champion Tommy Hill was third fastest for Swan Yamaha to remain ahead of Australian title rival Josh Brookes on the leading Tyco Suzuki whilst Ian Lowry and Padgetts Honda completed the top five. Supersonic BMW had also made steps forward since qualifying yesterday as Tommy Bridewell moved into sixth with his fastest lap of the weekend so far to push ahead of Graeme Gowland and the returning Stuart Easton.

Karl Harris broke into the top ten with a ninth position on the Quattro Plant Kawasaki on his debut weekend just a narrow margin ahead of James Westmoreland who made it all three WFR Hondas inside the top ten. Michael Laverty on the leading Samsung Honda was nudged to eleventh ahead of Noriyuki Haga and Alastair Seeley.
