Ryan Farquhar retired on the first lap of the Junior 350cc Classic event at the Manx Grand Prix on Tuesday.

The Dungannon rider lay in third place in the early stages but the 36-year-old nine-time MGP winner came to a halt on his Honda at Brandywell.

Nigel Moore, also from Dungannon, ended in third position, behind winner Chris Palmer and Chris Swallow.

Dromore rider Stephen McKnight was third in the four-lap Junior race, won by Drogheda's Wayne Kirwan on a Yamaha.

Antrim man John Simpson retired during the Newcomers race on Saturday evening.

Simpson, the current British Supersport Cup champion, had set the fastest time in practice and was the pre-race favourite on his first appearance on the Mountain Circuit.

Monday's race programme was carried over to Tuesday because of inclement weather.

Farquhar will hope for better luck when he takes part in the 500cc Classic Grand Prix on Wednesday, while both Farquhar and Michael Dunlop will ride in the Classic Superbike event on Friday.
