Aussie Josh Brookes may be primed for his Isle of Man TT debut in 2013, but the Tyco Suzuki rider appears somewhat reluctant to compete at the North West 200 as a warm-up event.

The British Superbike Championship runner-up presently has little interest in competing at other roads events such as the NW200 or Ulster Grand Prix, saying only the challenge of the Mountain circuit lights his fire.

In a video interview with Bike Sport News, Brookes said: “I haven’t put much energy and thought into other road races.

“There aren’t really any other road races at the moment that excite me like the TT does.

“We haven’t committed to doing the North West 200 - it’s being talked about, but it’s not been committed to.

“Of course it may come up and we may consider it as a team and talk about the good points and bad points, but for me the primary goal in going road racing was to do the TT,” he added.

“If they said you can do the North West 200 or TT and can only pick one or the other, it would always be the TT.

“Even if I could do 10 road races or just the TT, it would still be the TT because that’s what I’m interested in and that’s what gives me the excitement and desire to try it,” said Brookes, who narrowly lost out in his bid to be crowned BSB champion this year to Shane Byrne.

“I understand the concept of having a lead-up race to the TT, but the point is that the only thing giving me motivation and excitement is the TT - the other stuff isn’t really on the radar.”
