TT Motorfest postponed until 2014
.

A music festival planned for this year’s TT festival has had to be postponed until next year.

The TT Motorfest 2013 billed itself as the ‘largest and most comprehensive single site entertainment venue at TT 2013’ and was planned to take place between May 29 and June 7.

It was to be situated on land between the Creg-ny-Baa and Brandish and was to have featured a stage, various bars, big screens and live music.

The plan was also to have displays of vintage and modern TT bikes and memorabilia, trade stands, merchandise and a wide choice of food outlets.

Among the daily entertainment, organisers hoped to include stunt shows, live bands – both local and from further afield – as well as a number of other acts such as fire eating, martial arts exhibitions, exotic dancers and audience participation competitions.

For festival goers who stayed on site during racing and practising it was hoped to provide grandstand facilities including live timing on big screens and live radio commentary.

An application for planning permission was made to Onchan Commissioners to stage the event but organisers contacted them on Wednesday to say they now hoped to go ahead with the plan in 2014 rather than this year.

Commissioners’ executive Malcolm Hulme said he had contacted the organisers for more information and had learned of the postponment by email soon after.

‘I understand they will be amending their application and still putting it forward but for 2014 now,’ he said.

From a planning point of view he said they would be considering the location and its implications for access – which can be congested during TT – as well as parking particularly along the back road.

Organisers have said they need more time to discuss their plans but hope to make next year’s event even better.

RE: TT Motorfest postponed until 2014
Maybe they've realised that they won't rake in as much cash as they at first thought ??
