The organisers of the Steam Packet International Southern 100 Road Races announced at their recent Media Launch for the 2013 races that Petrochem Carless have become Official Fuel Partner for the event.

The specialist manufacturer of performance and racing fuels has been involved with the event since 2009 as sponsors of the Sidecar Championship, which will continue this year, the 50th year of the race on the Billown Course.

The arrangement recognises the performance characteristics of its world renowned Hiperflo Racing Fuels and signals an increasing commitment by the company to road racing on the Island.

“The Southern 100 is a road racing success story and Petrochem Carless is delighted to be strengthening its involvement at this year’s ‘Friendly Races’,” confirms Conrad Webster, Manager, Performance Fuels, Petrochem Carless. “We shall continue to sponsor the Sidecar Championship as it celebrates its 50th anniversary whilst also improving awareness and boosting sales for our high performance Hiperflo Racing Fuels.”

Many of the world’s leading road racing teams and riders compete on Hiperflo products. At last year’s Isle of Man TT race week it was another tour de force for Carless-fuelled teams as they claimed wins in five of the seven races. John McGuinness, holder of the outright lap record and fuelled by Petrochem Carless, took the win in the Superbike TT and the Superstock categories, running on Hiperflo Moto 4T. Team-mate Bruce Anstey claimed the win in the first of the two Supersport races while Dave Molyneux claimed both Sure sidecar race wins, also on Hiperflo Moto T.

2013 will see the 50th year of Sidecar Racing on the 4.25 mile Billown Course and that milestone will be celebrated during the Southern 100’s four action packed race days which takes place between 8th and 11th July.
