Michael Dunlop is confident of being fit to race at the North West 200 after undergoing surgery on an arm injury.

The 25-year-old had his operation on Monday to repair damage sustained in a crash in qualifying at Brands Hatch.

Dunlop, who has two North West wins to his name, was a double winner at the Cookstown 100 despite being in pain.

"Being fit for the North West isn't a big concern for me. I'm not worried about it and neither is the doctor. I need to be ready for it," said Dunlop.

"It's a wee bit sore and I've been speaking to a specialist but I just have to plug away slowly but surely.

"Last week they had to poke my shoulder out of its socket to get my nerves back in the right place, and then they had to fix the arm,"
added the Ballymoney rider.

Dunlop took wins in the Supersport race and the Supertwins class over the Orritor circuit on Saturday.

He will ride BMW machinery in the Superbike and Superstock classes at the North West 200, plus his own MD Racing Honda in the Supersport events.

The younger of the Dunlop brothers will then take in six races at the Isle of Man TT, where he hopes to add to his tally of seven victories.
