KIRMINGTON motorcycle ace Guy Martin finished first in his class at the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb at the weekend.

The TT star finished first in the PPC-UTV Exhibition class in what is one of motorsport’s toughest challenges and 53rd overall out of 130 competitors.

Martin was hoping to break the 10 minute mark on the 12.42 mile course which has only ever been done twice but finished in a time of 11:32:558 on his 2014 Martek.

The race was won by Switzerland’s Romain Dumas who won in a new record time of 9:05:081.

The race is run on the course with 156 turns, beginning at 9,390 feet and finishing at the 14,115 foot summit of America's Mountain.
