Michael Dunlop confirmed for Scarborough Gold Cup

Michael Dunlop has been confirmed for the Scarborough Gold Cup meeting at Oliver’s Mount this weekend.

Dunlop - a double winner on his MD Racing BMW at Killalane on Sunday - joins a star-studded field as he bids to win the prestigious silverware for the second time after the Ballymoney man took the top spot in the feature race in 2013.

The 26-year-old is the only member of his legendary racing family ever to have his name etched on the Gold Cup trophy in the wake of his triumph in testing conditions two years ago.

A stellar line-up includes 23-times Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness plus Flying Kiwi Bruce Anstey, although event favourite Guy Martin is doubtful after his crash at the Ulster Grand Prix in August.

Last year’s winner Ivan Lintin returns to defend his title on the RC Express Kawasaki, while Tyco BMW’s William Dunlop adds more class to the opposition along with Fermanagh’s Lee Johnston (East Coast Racing), Dean Harrison on the Mar-Train Yamaha, KMR Kawasaki’s Ryan Farquhar and evergreen Welshman Ian Lougher.
