Ryuichi Kiyonari fired the Bennetts Suzuki to the top of the times in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up session at Silverstone in drying conditions ahead of this afternoon’s opening race of the season.

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Peter Hickman held the initial advantage but Kiyonari was a master on the drying track and on his final lap the Japanese ace moved ahead to lead the pack ahead of race one this afternoon.

Jakub Smrz was third fastest on the Smiths Racing BMW as he moved ahead of James Ellison on the second of the JG Speedfit Kawasakis and Richard Cooper who completed the top five for Buildbase BMW.

Martin Jessopp had another strong session in sixth place ahead of the leading MCE BSB rookie Glenn Irwin on the leading Be Wiser Ducati, narrowly ahead of former Supersport rival James Rispoli on the Anvil Hire TAG Racing Yamaha.
