Jeremy McWilliams and Michael Rutter will be competing against each other in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship

Veteran racer Jeremy McWilliams says he is ‘delighted’ to have the opportunity to return to competitive action in the British Championship.

The 52-year-old Ulsterman has been drafted into the EHA Racing team in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship as a replacement for Ben Wilson, who was badly injured at the North West 200 in May.

Former Grand Prix winner McWilliams will ride an Aprilia RSV4-RF in the series at Snetterton from July 9-10, joining Northern Ireland counterparts Josh Elliott and Keith Farmer in the class.

“I’m delighted to be standing in for Ben until he has fully recovered,”
said McWilliams, who more recently has made the headlines here for his exploits on the roads in the Supertwins races at the North West 200 and the Armoy ‘Race of Legends’.

“It will be my first time back at a BSB round since I competed in the Harley Davidson series in 2010 and I expect very tough opposition.

“It will be a challenge but I’m looking forward to testing with the team and going forward from there.”

EHA Racing team manager Gail Allingham added:

“Jeremy has a wealth of experience and will be a real asset to our team, we are really looking forward to working with him. Jeremy’s first race with us will be the next round at Snetterton.”
