LAVERTY VICTORY INSPIRES ‘TEAM TYCO’ PRIOR TO BRANDS GP ROUND

Following Michael Laverty’s race two victory at Thruxton last time out, ( on the podium above), Tyco BMW will be looking to keep the momentum going this weekend during round seven of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch on the GP circuit.

Laverty’s victory and second place from the opening race at Thruxton, moved him back into Showdown contention. He now holds fourth place in the championship standings coming into the final three rounds before the the all-important cut off.

His BSB team-mate Christian Iddon has had to overcome a nasty finger injury this past two rounds and will be looking to get back into top six contention on the Brands Hatch GP circuit during round 7.

In the Superstock 1000cc class, Josh Elliott showed the form that won him last year’s title with a podium at Thruxton, which should inspire confidence in the Northern Irish rider coming into this weekend’s action.

Ian Hutchinson was disappointed with fourth place last time out, which was his first time off the podium this season. He currently holds second place in the championship standings and will be looking to get back to winning ways at Brands, as he aims to close the gap at the top of the table.

Team manager Philip Neill explained:

“We’ve had some great results at Brands Hatch on the GP track in previous years at TAS Racing and now we will be looking for some silverware with all riders on the Tyco BMW S1000RRs.

“Michael showed tremendous form and ability at Thruxton and we will be looking for him to show something similar this weekend at Brands. Christian has gone through a tough little period, but we have every confidence in the lad and expect to see him at the sharp end when it matters on Sunday.

“We saw a different Josh Elliott last time out at Thruxton and again, we will be looking to see him use that as a platform for some top results in the second half of the season in the Superstock 1000cc class. Hutchy had a bit of bad luck when challenging for the win at Thruxton, but has been riding superbly this season, and I’m sure we will see him back at the front this weekend on the Tyco BMW S1000RR.”
