Sheene to be honoured here.
"Stephanie Sheene, widow of the late motorcycling legend Barry, has emotionally
accepted an invitation to wave the chequered flag at this year's Australian F1 GP."

'He was looking forward to the honour last year,' she said, 'but unfortunately
he wasn't well enough to do it. I feel a sense of duty to do it for him.'

Re: Sheene to be honoured here.
It's almost a year since his death, has there
been any discussion for any memorial in
Australia for Barry ?

Re: Sheene to be honoured here.
Gail, all I have confirmed is that the memorial race held for Barry at this year's Classic meeting at Eastern Creek, NSW, will be a perpetual one and apparently the organiser has given a magnificent trophy but I think the trophy will remain in Australia at all times. There is also a shield. My informant tells me that something may happen in Queensland as that is where Barry resided. Shall keep you posted.

Re: Sheene to be honoured here.
Thank you Jan.

I was an admirer of Barry Sheene and even had a jacket made the same as a set of his leathers.
I know he didn't say good things about the TT
but I suppose one can have their own opinion !
He was one of a few great British Grand Prix riders and people liked his personality.

I will remember the day before my birthday with
sadness of his loss to the sport and also the
25th February for the big loss of Joey.
Rest in peace Barry and Joey
