Lorenzo Savadori and Eugene Laverty delivered strong Friday performances on the RSV4 RF to reach Superpole 2 at Assen

After a four-week break following Round 3 of the 2017 season at Motorland Aragon, the Milwaukee Aprilia team are back in action at the legendary TT Circuit Assen for Round 4.

The team have continued to work hard to hone and improve the new generation Aprilia RSV4 RF, and made the most of their track time in Friday’s Free Practice sessions at Assen.

Lorenzo and Eugene both looked in fine form, reaching Superpole 2 together for the first time this year. Returning from injuries sustained in Round 2 at Thailand, Lorenzo delivered a strong performance to post the fifth fastest overall time on Friday, with Eugene an encouraging seventh place and close to his teammate’s pace.

With both riders straight into the shootout for pole position on Saturday the team are hopeful of a strong result in Race 1, which will surely be a closely-fought contest.

The action continues at #DutchWorldSBK with FP3 at 08:45 (07:45 GMT) ahead of Superpole at 10:30 (09:30 GMT).

Keep up with Milwaukee Aprilia on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as they contest the 2017 WorldSBK Championship.

Lorenzo Savadori #32 - FP1: P13, 1'36.997   :   FP2: P5, 1'35.938

“I’m quite happy with practice today.  Haven’t ridden the bike for over 6 weeks, so it’s good for us to get directly into Superpole 2.

We lost time this morning with a small problem on the bike and we need to improve our race pace for sure, but the guys have some ideas on where we can find some speed.

I think we will be in a good position for Superpole and the race tomorrow. The weather is still uncertain of course, but we will push for everything again.”

Eugene Laverty #50 - FP1: P8, 1'36.830   :   FP2: P7, 1'36.150

“It’s been by far the best Friday practice session of the year. We were 8th in the morning and 7th in the afternoon, and we were comfortably doing those lap times.

Before we’ve had to really push to make the top 10 for Superpole but today was much smoother. The bike feels much better here, and the work we did in the post-Aragon test has paid off here.

Our pace is looking good at the moment, and I think we’ll be able to challenge the guys we’re aiming at. A top 5 finish in Race 1 would be ideal, but we’ll see what happens in Superpole 2 first.”
