Newcomer crashed minutes into Thursday's practice session

Andy Dudgeon suffered a fractured spine in his crash at the Macau Grand Prix yesterday as the practice session was cut short.

It means he's been ruled not fit to race in Friday's qualifying around the Guia Circuit.

The Manx rider is in a stable condition but still under observation following surgery, according to the latest updates.

The 30-year-old Manxman was able to crawl off the racing line after he came off his VRS Racing Kawasaki ZX10, evading oncoming traffic before receiving treatment for back pain on the track.

His team boss posted a photo online of Dudgeon in a hospital bed smiling as news emerged of the incident at turn one, which happened just minutes into the session.
