WEBB RETURNS TO CLASSIC TT WITH DUNNELL RACING

Dunnell Racing will make their return to this year’s Classic TT presented by Bennetts, with former 125cc and Moto3 World Championship rider Danny Webb once again riding 350cc and 500cc Manx Nortons.

Maintaining his association with the team which began in 2016, the 28-year old will ride Tony Dunnell’s immaculately prepared machinery in both the four-lap Locate.im Junior Classic TT and Bennetts Senior Classic TT Races.

The Tunbridge Wells rider has achieved excellent results thus far at the Classic TT, finishing all four of the races he’s started on the distinctive green machines, three of which have been inside the top ten.

His first year with the team, in 2016, saw him take a fine sixth place in the Junior Classic TT Race where he was the first Norton past the chequered flag after lapping at an average speed of 98.149mph. He was only defeated by Michael Dunlop, Michael Rutter, Alan Oversby, Cameron Donald and Daniel Cooper.

Webb followed that up with an equally impressive lap of 104.991mph in the Senior Classic TT Race on his way to another excellent finish of seventh place, and although he was set to ride for the team again in 2017, he was forced to miss the event due to injuries sustained at that year’s TT.

However, he was again on the pace twelve months ago taking another sixth-place finish, this time in the Bennetts Senior Classic TT Race, as well as 11th in the Junior Classic TT Race. His results of previous years mean Webb will once more be expected to feature prominently in both races this August, as he and the team again look to be the first of the single cylinder Nortons on the leaderboard.

Dunnell himself has a long association with the Isle of Man, first as a competitor in the Manx Grand Prix and, in later years, as a sponsor and entrant. After a four year layoff, Tony returned to the Isle of Man in 2013 for the inaugural Classic TT and, prior to Webb, enjoyed a number of top eight finishes with Keith Amor, Conor Cummins and Mick Godfrey.

Having clearly embraced the Classic TT movement, Dunnell will again be providing Webb with the latest specification 500cc and 350cc Manx Nortons as they look to put on another brace of strong performances around the TT Mountain Course.
