Info about my dad?
Hi all,
I am looking for info/photos about my dads past racing at the TT.
I used to listen to his stories when i was younger about the TT and the island but never got any of it written down etc. Unfortunately he passed away 5 years ago and i know very little.
I know he competed in the 66 and 67 sidecar TT finishing 19 and 33 consectivley?. He partnered A J Sansum.
I would really appreciate some help with this and i am planning to go back to the island this year as we scattered his ashes at the Bungalow.
Many thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I am sure you will get an answer from someone on here, they are a good bunch.

Sadly it is before my time...I was some 20 years after your dad at the TT.

You may want to post here: http://www.steveenglish.com/news.php There are some real old duffers on there who have raced chairs for years. Lol

I am sure someone there will have loads of details.

If you want a run around the course TT week or any intorductions to any Sidecar Crews ect, PM me and I can help to sort that out.

Kind Regards

That really got my memory working!
Thoughts of names like Derek Plummer, Trevor Irseson
and derek Yorke came to mind.
So what was your dads name?
Was he B L Harris?
The TT database has little info exceot for results and a pic.
Good luck and do tell us what you find.
A J Sansum, well I'm blowed!

You shoud take up any offer fro young Fitz as he is well connected
with the chariot boys.
As is our own witch, of course

Wow thanks for the reply's.
I cant believe i didnt put his name lol. Robert Andrew King (King R A) on the database.
I believe B L Harris is Brian my godparent. I am writing to him now as i havent spoken to him properly since visiting the island 5 years ago he lives there.
I believe the guy in the photo with Alan is D A Jose but dad did used to ride in a helmet like that also,
Thanks again
Steve.

I never got to it. The Google search came up with it, but it must be right at the bottom and the computer got bored and spat it out!
However... here's something for you..

Thanks for this, I had seen the second one - Good to see how it would have been that at the time get a real sense of atmosphere.
I have had a chance to go to different race meetings but sometimes its the TT that stirs up the emotion due to the history etc and i havent had the oppurtunity yet. Watching these videos makes me more determined to get there probably next year now though.
Hopefully i will be armed with all the info and pictures to give me a sense of what it was like for dad

The autosport thread can be found here, it might be a bit more computer friendly. Be warned, I spent 3 days looking through the posts a while ago.
