ACU makes statement on sidecar regulations

ACU Events Ltd has issued a statement regarding sidecar outfits entered for the Isle of Man TT in 2008.

The statement says it has been brought to the ACU’s attention that some of the sidecars intended to be raced at the 2008 TT currently do not conform to the necessary requirements detailed in the TT Supplementary Regulations.

It adds the issue concerns the fact the passenger platform must be 300mm wide x 800mm long, as per the diagram on page 42 of the regulations, to comply with ACU regulations, which have been in place since the year 2000.

The statement says some new machines apparently do not meet this requirement.

The organisation adds:

‘The ACU believes that the changes and cost required to make the necessary alterations are minimal and that competitors have sufficient notice to comply with the regulations.’

‘It is also understood that some manufacturers will carry out their own inspections to ensure their machines comply with the regulations before the start of the first TT practice.’

Read the relevant regulations on the information for sidecar competitors page of the Official Isle of Man TT website.

A message from Dave Molyneux
Anybody using a DMR chassis at this years TT, could they please contact me on 01624 880455 immediately. There are possibly a number of my chassis that need altering prior to TT. Could you please contact me in order to arrange for me to carry out this simple procedure at my cost in order to comply with regulations and TT insurance requirements. Many thanks, Dave Molyneux.
