More Major UK music acts confirmed for TT fortnight
The Coral join Athlete at the Villa Marina during TT fortnight

Leading UK indie band the Coral have joined the line up for the TT fortnight and will play at the Villa Marina on Friday 6th June.

The Liverpool band play an unusual style of music that has been described as a mixture of old-fashioned country, 1960’s psychaedelica and folk with modern ‘rock n’ roll’ thrown in. The band have released five albums to critical acclaim including the Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘The Coral’ in 2002.

Crash, featuring James Toseland, are also scheduled to play at the Villa Marina on Sunday 25th May. Island resident James Toseland will be temporarily hanging up his leathers and taking a break from his early Moto GP successes to entertain the TT crowd.

The music line up will also include top rock band ‘The Move’, famous for the anthemic ‘flowers in the Rain’ which was the first ever track played on Radio 1. The Birmingham band were one of the leading lights in the 60’s and were at the forefront of the musical revolution. Status Quo are also appearing in a sold out gig on Tuesday 3rd June. The music line up is completed by ‘Rock Anthems’, billed as a classic tribute rock music show, on Monday 26th May and Quill, who will be appearing every evening in the Villa Promenade Suite from 30th May to 5th June

Two comedy nights are also planned during the fortnight. Ricky Tomlinson and special guests will be bringing his laughter Show to the Island, including special guests. There is also an evening of Liverpool Comedians planned which will feature 2 hours of ‘non stop Liverpool humour’.

The Ramsey Heritage Centre, Quayle’s Hall on Albert Street which is adjacent to the Manx Electric Railway Station in Ramsey, will host the Getty Images exhibition. The exhibition features over 100 years of TT races from the early motor car racing through to the centenary TT in 2007. Iconic legends like Stanley Woods, Geoff Duke and Mike Hailwood sit alongside Joey Dunlop and 2007 lap record holder John McGuinness. The exhibition opens to the public on Friday 23rdth May and will run until the end of June.

There are three spectacular aerobatic displays planned, by the Blades, the RAF Falcons and The Battle of Britain Memorial flight. This year will also see two spectacular ‘wing walkers’ by the ‘aerosuperbatic team’. These may also feature some well known faces.

Two TT days are also planned, in Peel on Sunday 1st June and Port Erin on Monday 2nd June and a spectacular firework show is also planned from Douglas Bay on Wednesday 4th June from 11pm.
