IoM Gov announce revised schedule following postponement of Saturdays races.
Valentino Rossi visit rescheduled for Monday 8th June

Late road closure on Tuesday 9th June to complete schedule

The Isle of Man Government today announced a revised racing and road closure schedule following the postponement of the Dainese Superbike and Sure Sidecar 1 races on Saturday 6th June.

Eddie Nelson, Clerk of the Course, commented: “We took the decision not to race on Sunday as the conditions would not have improved sufficiently from Saturday’s rain to run a Superbike race. The course still has significant moisture in many places and there are also high winds on the mountain and it would not be safe to race in those conditions.”

The two races scheduled for Saturday 6th June will now take place on Monday 8th June. The mountain road between Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg ny Baa will close at 9.30am with the rest of the course at 10am

The Dainese Superbike race will be started at 11am by Giacomo Agostini and will be followed by a lap of the course by Moto GP legend Valentino Rossi and Agostini at approximately 1pm. The winner of the race will be garlanded by Valentino.

Viewing facilities at the Grandstand are limited unless you have purchased a Grandstand seat. You are therefore encouraged to either purchase a ticket or find a vantage point out on the course if you want to see Valentino and Giacomo Agostini.

The Sure Sidecar race is scheduled to start at 2pm. Practices for the Royal London 360 Superstock Race and the Relentless Supersport 1 race will begin 3.45pm. Providing everything goes according to schedule, it is hoped to start re-opening the roads from St Ninians at approximately 4.30pm with the course open by 5pm with the exception of the mountain section between Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg-ny-Baa, which it is hoped will open by 6pm.

The racing originally scheduled for Monday 8th June will now take place on Tuesday 9th June with some changes. The mountain section of the course between Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg-ny-Baa will close at 11am with the rest of the course at 11.30am.

The Relentless Supersport 1 race will begin at 12.15pm.with the Royal London 360 Superstock Race now scheduled to start at 6.30pm. There will be a practice sessions for the sidecars at 2.45pm and 3.45 for TTXGP, the world first clean emissions motorcycle race, between the two races. Subject to everything going according to schedule, it is hoped to start re-opening the roads from St Ninians at approximately 8pm with the course open by 8.30pm with the exception of the mountain section between Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg-ny-Baa, which will open by 9.30pm.

As the road closure of the TT Course will extend into the evening, providing everything goes according to schedule, the Course Crossing Points will be open to vehicles to assist commuter traffic movements between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. At this time, a special Access Corridor will also be opened in Kirk Michael from Douglas Road Corner for residents in roads up to Cannan Court (including the emergency access gate to Faaie Ny Cabbal). This is a special measure only in place for Tuesday’s racing.

With the traffic measures already in place in Douglas, including the temporary traffic signals at Greensill’s Corner and Summerhill, and the co-operation of motorists, it is hoped to keep traffic moving in the busy evening peak period.

Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Isle of Man Government, commented: “We are trying to minimise the disruption for road users during the TT and are also making decisions as early as possible to give people plenty of time to plan around the road closures. We are doing everything possible to reduce disruption.”
