Ben and Tom Birchall, engine failure forces retirement in first TT race
The boys have just this minute returned to the paddock and told me the problem was an engine failure. They will be working flat out this evening to change the engine ahead of practice on Tuesday.

Practice for the sidecar crews takes place at 2.45pm on Tuesday afternoon

Ben said: “We are disappointed with the non finish as we were looking good for sixth place. That would have been a really good result for us. But it wasn’t to be and we have it all to do again on Wednesday.”

The second of the three-lap sidecar races is set to start at 1.15pm on Wednesday
