No Classics at Southern 100 in 2010
[Image: s100hdr.jpg]

The organising committee of the Steam Packet Southern ‘100’ International Road Races have reluctantly made the decision to drop the Classic Races from the 2010 meeting.

Run each July the ‘Southern’ has seen a steady increase in the number of competitors wishing to compete on the Billown Course on the outskirts of Castletown in the Isle of Man year on year which is most satisfying and the club has done its utmost to cater for this with the inclusion of extra races.

This welcome increase has not shown a similar trend within the Classic Races first introduced into the Southern ‘100’ in 1987, numbers have decreased significantly over the last few years resulting in less than full grids appearing on the starting line.

However, Classic competitors will still be able to enjoy the experience of pitting their skills around the 4.25-mile course each year, as the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Solo & Sidecar Races as the event continues to attract the best of the classic racers each year as it has done since 1988.

Dates for 2010 are as follows:

Blackford’s Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Solo & Sidecar Races

Friday 28th May
Saturday 29th May
Monday 31st May

Billown TT Races

Saturday 12th June

Steam Packet Southern ‘100’ International Road Races

Monday 12th July
Tuesday 13th July
Wednesday 14th July
Thursday 15th July
Be right back. I am going to go find myself, and if I leave before I get back, make sure to tell me !! -

What a great shame we are to lose the classics I always enjoyed them as they provided a bit of variety to the meeting. However, as they say,use it or lose it.
No one can accuse the S100 club of not giving every class of racing a fair go but I guess the replicas have had their day in Castletown,pity.Icon_frown
