1967 TT
Hi Everyone,

Another research question: For the diamond jubilee in 1967 did Prince Phillip actually attend the TT?

I have heard his telegram being read out by Norman Dixon but wasn't sure if he actually came over for the event.

If so how long did he stay? Was he at the opening ceremony / did he see the senior TT? - If so does anyone have any photos?

Thanks for your help

Josh

Is that Sorensen with his ex works Manxman? If so, that bike still survives in a UK collection. Not sure if Simo's Terrot survives.

To the best of my knowledge, Prince Philip did not attend the 1967 TT - I'm pretty sure his two TT visits were in 1949 and 1969.

Hi,

I'v just spent a pleasent afternoon watching the various TT U tube videos, they bought back a lot of memorys especialy the 1969 production race, thank you. I was told a lovely story about the concern that Prince Phillip had for the couple of riders who crashed in the 1969 production race and were taken to hospital. Before he left the island to fly back to London he wanted to know the latest information from Nobles hospital about their conditions. During his flight back to london he got the pilot of the aircraft to contact the organizers a couple of times to ask about them.

My mistake. It was not Sorensen with the Manxman but Galway, a privateer who was favoured by the Excelsior factory .
