Strong Entry for Manx Telecom Post TT Road Races

The Manx Telecom Post TT Road Races has attracted a strong entry for its three race, five class meeting on Saturday 12th June 2010.

Run on the 4.25-mile Billown Course in the south of the Isle of Man, the ‘Post TT’ Races have brought the annual TT Festival to a close since 1991 and have provided some close and exciting racing as the stars of the Mountain Course re-adjust to the rigours of massed-start racing after a week of racing against the clock.

The organising Southern 100 Racing Club have returned to the 125cc 250cc, 400cc, 600cc and 650cc racing classes in three eight lap events combining the 125’s and 400’s; and the 250 machines with the relatively new 650cc SuperTwins and finally the 600cc Supersport class which has and still produces some of the closest racing seen on the ‘roads’ in recent times.

The Ultra Lightweight race is set to see a fierce battle between local rider, Chris Palmer, a seven time winner at this meeting and William Dunlop, although another Manxman Dan Sayle who also knows his way around the tight, technical course will be up amongst the duelling pair looking to see the chequered flag first.

Running concurrently with the 125’s the 400’s four-stroke race is headed by class specialist, Blackpool’s Roy Richardson, although with fellow race winner Dave Madsen-Mygdal and another dozen or more snarling 400’s victory for the Blackpool ace is no means certain.

The 250 Lightweight class will see the rivalry continue between Manxmen Palmer and Sayle with the added spice of three Ulster riders, William Dunlop, Barry Davidson and Davy Morgan, once again to the fore, along with Welshman Paul Owen, the quarter-litre class will be a closely fought eight laps.

The 650cc SuperTwins race, being run concurrently with the 250’s has Ryan Farquhar, also a seven times winner at this meeting out to maintain his unbeaten record so far this year in the class. The Dungannon flyer will have to fend off close neighbour John Burrows and the man who chased him hard at Cookstown earlier this year, Czech Michal Dokoupil. Roy Richardson has his second outing of the day and is likely to be thorn in the sides of the afore mentioned as he looks to take the victory laurels in this ‘new’ race in the June meeting.

The feature 600cc Supersport race, certainly won’t be one for the feint hearted as Ryan Farquhar, Chris Palmer, John Burrows, William Dunlop, Roy Richardson, Michal Dokoupil, line-up on the grid alongside Mark Buckley, Stephen Oates, Alan Jackson, Paul Owen, Dave Madsen-Mygdal, Paul Dobbs and Paul Cranston amongst others will be out to provide a fitting eight-lap finale to the Manx Telecom Post TT Road Races.

Roads Close for Practice and Qualifying between 1.00pm and 4.00pm and for racing between 5.00pm and 8.30pm at the latest.

Should the Senior TT be postponed until Saturday 12th June, the Manx Telecom Post TT Road Races will be moved to Sunday 13th June with the roads being closed around the Billown Course between 12.30pm and 6.00pm.
