30th Anniversary Jock Taylor Sidecar Race Meeting, Knockhill Racing Circuit, August 14/15th 2010

Organisers at Knockhill Racing Circuit and the KDMC are delighted to announce a new format for the Fife Council-supported motorcycle event on August 14/15th featuring the 30th anniversary of Jock Taylor winning the World Sidecar Championship in 1980.

This will be the final Jock Taylor meeting, so it is anticipated that the largest number of sidecars seen in recent years will turn out to celebrate this landmark anniversary of the late and great Scotsman who was killed in a racing accident in 1982. In addition there is a full program of Scottish Championship racing, feature display bikes, club stands and invited star guests will perform, including the ex world Stunt Champion, Scotsman Kevin Carmichael.

This is due to the surprising and unforeseen announcement that the round of the FIM World Sidecar Championship at Knockhill is not now happening. Event Director, Stuart Gray, said: "I know hosting a Grand Prix would have had great kudos and prestige, however, what better way to fill the void than celebrate one of Scotland's racing heroes, Jock Taylor. A massive seven races are on offer for sidecar teams, a prize fund of £2000 with prize money on every lap of a triple ten lap race format, and all for only £100 entry fee! Teams interested should contact the KDMC directly on 01592 650871 or 07917 422574."

In addition to the sidecar and solo bike racing and Kevin Carmichael stunt riding, a number of other exciting elements are being worked on to make the weekend a real motorcycle racing festival. Details will be announced in due course as and when they are confirmed.
