I got home too late to see the M & M Rider of the night--My programming says Mr G Duke--Was it ???
I was ashamed to miss him tonight--I contribute to him the cause of my avid interest and involvement with the TT..He was probably my first TT idol
When he won his first TT I was introduced to him and I was but a youngster !!
I had a photo taken with him, me in short pants, he a TT winner !!
Recently I had a photo taken with him to "match" the previous one---Guess who looks the oldest now ??
What ARE you on Geoff, Monkey Glands ???
See you at the TT--Again ! Long may you be around to remind us of when the TT was the TT of old, the supreme test of man and machine, with skinny tyres !!!

Something to keep you busy over the long winter nights that are now upon us.
Judith Fuller has very kindly forwarded a selection of caricatures of past riders to us and an idea was hatched that perhaps we could use these to test your knowledge.
We shall leave the page as it is for a couple of weeks, and if there are any that remain unsolved then a couple of hints will be posted to perhaps give that little bit of information that will identify the rider(s) remaning.
We shall run a table of results and post them on here in the future.
Now get the books out and enjoy.

Ok, this may be easy for the experts, but it will remind us of an outstanding rider of the past who mirrors the young talent we see in todays GP scene.
He competed in 15 TTs, won 5, of which his last was his only win on the mountain course. In that event he set a lap and race record. In 1960 he had won more world championships than anyone else and yet with all this success he never rode a 500.
If anyone could share any personal memories of him on the Island I would be appreciative as I believe not enough has been said of this man.

Norman Cowie, who died yesterday aged 90, was Scotland's longest serving councillor...55 years.
He also owned the farm on which Crimond Aerodrome was built.
After the war, he rented the peritracks and runways to the Aberdeen and District Motor Club, and later the Bon Accord Motorcycle Club for many years for racing.
Many a happy weekend was spent there, mending holes in the tar, camping in the whins, and partying...oh, yes, we also had some fantastic racing over the years.
Norman will be remembered by many for his public works, and by a wee group of mad motorcycle eccentrics. God rest ye, Norman.

I have just had breakfast "on the IOM" with Discovery Home and Leisure---
It was this fellow who went to the Island happening to be there at TT time--He watched a bit of the Proddy, sat on Joeys Senior bike and then, before the races finished went looking for the ghost dog of Peel Castle !!
Not quite what I would do whilst at the TT-
Has anyone any idea if this prog is available ON video or does anyone have a spare copy please ?
I missed being able to record it
Not a bad representation of our TT

Len passed away peacefully on October 23rd, aged 82. Len designed, built and raced his own bike at the TT during the 1950's, the 125cc LCH. He was also Chief Scrutineer at the TT for a number of years and rode in the Clasic lap up until 2000. He had a vast knowledge of all things motorcycling and that of mechanical engineering. He will be very sadly missed.
