Tour de France
Just seen the incident at the tour de france where the spectator running alongside the rider brought down a media bike complete with cameraman on the back , coupled with the rider who got smacked in the face with a clapper as he rode past giving him a bloody nose , surely they could learn a thing or two from road racing events and fans who in the main are extremely orderly and well behaved.
I have watched these pushbike events in the past on the telly and the antics of the spectators are irresponsible and downright danderous.

Re: Tour de France
It's exactly the same in rallying, I can't believe there are aren't more spectator deaths in that sport as the fans are stark-raving mad.

Re: Tour de France
Running along beside Lance Armstrong is a bit easier than John McGuinness!
Much of the outlandish behaviour on the high mountains of the Tour de France
is due to the direct live TV coverage.
The loonies compete with each other to appear on international TV.
No doubt they hope to see themselves on replay.
Considering there were 500,000 on one mountain this year there were remarkably
few incidents.
If and when the TT is ever televised live I am fairly sure you would see a few
more flags and advertising signs in evidence.
I wonder if there would be more or less people on the Island if it were on TV?
