Ian Lougher announces his retirement from TT racing
The Welshman will bow out after Friday’s Senior

IAN Lougher will ride his final TT on Friday.

Fifty next month, the popular Welshman announced his retirement from the TT earlier this week.

He has been a major supporter of road racing in general and the TT in particular for the past 30 years.

Lougher made his debut in the 1984 Historic TT when finishing runner-up to American Dave Roper, one year after finishing third behind Robert Dunlop and Steve Hislop in the 1983 Newcomers 350cc MGP.

Since then, Lougher has chalked up no fewer than 10 TT wins (all bar four on the Mountain Course), putting him alongside many of the all-time greats.

He has started 118 TTs and finished 94, which is a record number of starts (Dave Madsen-Mygdal is marginally ahead on finishes).
